Laura's STORY

Laura M. Bailey (LmB) is a multi faceted artist based in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. Her artworks often centre around  people, places and things she holds dear to her heart. Shaped from a country life on 40 acres, Laura connected with her Finnish Heritage close to nature. Fascinated by the variety of textures, patterns and colors she finds in our natural world. Laura translates a rich sampling of these in her exploration of mediums which include paint (watercolor, acrylic and oil), soft pastel, photography and more recently real flower jewelry.

Awards

Laura won a National Gold Medal from the Scholastic Art and Writing Awards for her charcoal drawing "American Geisha" which hung in Carnegie Hall for two years in 2010.

2013 Power of words mural

A team of nine painters has been working with Iron Mountain native Mia Tavonatti to create a mural around the word, “believe,” which was voted on by the community to define the vision for Iron Mountain.
​The remaining artists are all local students who received scholarships or grants from the Svetlana Foundation for their participation.
The students involved are Laurin LaBonte, Jennifer Bafile, Casey Hoaglund, Miranda Roberts, Melissa Scholke, Laura Bailey, Amber Tefft and Stephen Wysocki.
